ABO Awards
"Our Education Committee has outlined a plan for the creation of an American Board of Orthodontists,
which shall examine applicants, and if they are found proficient, issue a Certification of Fitness."

To commemorate his achievements and inspire continued advancements in orthodontics, the American Board of Orthodontics created the Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award in 1936. The ABO's highest honor, the Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award is presented annually to an individual who has made a notable contribution to the science and art of orthodontics.
Additional awards honoring past ABO presidents were established in subsequent years, including the O.B. Vaughan Special Recognition Award in 1984, the Earl E. and Wilma S. Shepard Distinguished Service Award in 1987, and the Dale B. Wade Excellence in Orthodontics Award in 2001.

ABO Award recipients will be required to complete W-9 forms in order to issue 1099 forms at the end of the year, in accordance with IRS regulations.
