Dr. Roberto Hernández Orsini Installed as President-Elect of The American Board of Orthodontics

Dr. Roberto Hernández Orsini

The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) installed Roberto Hernández Orsini, D.M.D., M.P.H., M.S., of Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, as president-elect for the year beginning May 6, 2024.

The other 2024-2025 officers of the ABO are Jae Hyun Park, D.M.D., M.S.D., M.S., Ph.D., of Phoenix, Ariz., president; P. Emile Rossouw, M.Ch.D., Ph.D., of Rochester, N.Y., secretary-treasurer; and Timothy S. Trulove, D.M.D., M.S., of Montgomery, Ala., immediate past president.

The ABO directors are responsible for establishing policy concerning the board certification of specialists in orthodontics. Each ABO director represents one of the eight constituent organizations of the AAO and serves an eight-year term, which culminates in the position of president. During his tenure as an ABO director, Dr. Hernández Orsini has represented the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO). As president-elect, Dr. Hernández Orsini is a member of the Executive, Clinical and Certification committees.

Dr. Hernández Orsini is associate professor in the graduate orthodontic program at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine. He is also an assistant adjunct professor in orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, and maintains a private practice in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He is board certified and an examiner for the ABO. He is also a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, Midwest Component.

Dr. Hernández Orsini earned his master’s degree and certificate in orthodontics from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. His dental degree and pre-dental education are from the University of Puerto Rico. He also holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina.
